Twitter has announced its third-quarter earnings report for 2021. And it has only done an ok level business in comparison to what it actually should be doing by now.

I have always been a strong supporter of Twitter when it comes to the world of social media because of its presence being a balancing force against Facebook’s domination. But things changed drastically and my opinion about Twitter has also changed accordingly because of its biased behavior against the freedom of expression in the past twelve months.

I don’t want to talk about why I’m no more a fan of Twitter since it’s a big topic of its own and it will be too difficult to explain in this post. So let’s consider that to be a discussion for sometime later in the future.

Now, let’s come back to the topic of this blog post and talk about Twitter’s numbers in the third quarter of 2021.

  • Daily active users: Twitter has got 211 million daily active users as of the third quarter of this year in comparison with the 211.9 million users number which was expected by the analysts from wall street. It’s a pretty small miss but still, a concerning one since it can basically make or break Twitter’s future if this trend continues.
  • Revenue: Twitter has generated a total of $1.284 billion against the expectation of $1.285 billion U.S. dollars as per wall street. I would say not bad with this one for Twitter even though this should not be continuing at this close of a margin for a business to be a good enough investment.
  • Earnings per share: With earnings per share of 18 cents against the predicted 15 cents per share twitter has comfortably outperformed in this metric. And I think it's good that they at least did well with this one.

Other than these metrics Twitter has also said in their earnings report that Apple’s privacy features implemented earlier this year which has impacted the business performance of both Facebook and Snapchat has not done any big-time damage to Twitter’s ad business.

And this particular one to me is really surprising since I didn’t expect Twitter to not be affected by Apple’s privacy move.

To me, this is also very promising for Twitter’s ad business future.

I just hope Twitter would be less politically biased at least in the upcoming years since it will help it grow as a business and perform better.

Thank you for reading this, and God Bless Everyone.
