Spotify leads U.S. Podcast listeners base against Apple
Spotify is winning and growing in ways that I have exactly wanted it to and its a very good news for the online content creation and distribution space. The company has been making some huge investments and taking some hefty risks on the podcast front for the past couple of years. And those moves seem to be bearing the fruit slowly but surely.
Just a couple of weeks ago during its third-quarter earnings call for the year 2021. Spotify announced that it has managed to top Apple podcasts to become the “#1 Podcast Platform” for the united states market on an of course cross-platform basis.
Unlike what a lot of people may think this is actually a pretty big thing to happen for almost any company or business. Meaning, to top any sector or niche in the united states market. It’s a big deal and it promises a lot of growth in terms of business for the company.
Because let’s be honest here no matter what the united states as a country have been and will continue to be the world’s most premium market for any business to make money and generate revenue/profit.
As of now, Spotify has an estimated monthly active user base of 381 million. For a long time now Apple and Spotify have been going toe-to-toe with each other for the podcast market domination. Though Apple has been a champion in this space it's great to see Spotify come out of nowhere and start to not just grow but come to a position where it now has taken a small but much-needed lead for its business in the U.S podcast market.
In my personal opinion, Daniel Ek the Co-Founder and CEO of Spotify has really done a great job of navigating the company in the most appropriate direction for both long-term growth and short-term revenue flow.
I seem to like his performance as a CEO in recent years even though for a long time I have not been his big fan. I was very critical and skeptical about his ability to do what he has done now. But now that he has done an amazing job I can't stop appreciating the guy.
Kudos to both Spotify and Daniel Ek on this really important achievement.
