Qualcomm, one of the world’s most prominent hardware tech giants for global wireless infrastructure has announced its earnings data for the fourth quarter of 2021. And, it's an amazing show of business with great numbers to put a smile on the wall street investors. The company has very comfortably beaten the analyst's expectation and we will look into the number breakdown in the upcoming paragraphs.

But, before that, a small but skippable official about of Qualcomm for those who don’t know about it.

Wikipedia snippet about Qualcomm: Qualcomm is an American multinational corporation headquartered in San Diego, California, and incorporated in Delaware. It creates semiconductors, software, and services related to wireless technology. It owns patents critical to the 5G, 4G, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, and WCDMA mobile communications standards.

Over the years, Qualcomm has expanded into selling semiconductor products in a predominantly fabless manufacturing model. It also developed semiconductor components or software for vehicles, watches, laptops, wi-fi, smartphones, and other devices. End of the snippet.

Now, for the topic of this post. Let’s have a look at its earning numbers.

  • Earnings per share: The company has earned $2.55 dollars per share in comparison with the expected EPS of only $2.26. Beating this metric like a piece of cake.
  • Revenue: Qualcomm has generated quarterly revenue of around $9.3 billion against the predicted $8.86 billion. The investors are beyond happy with this performance of the company since it's quite surprising to everyone.

It’s very important to note that this spectacular performance of Qualcomm comes at a time when the whole world has been facing a chip production shortage. Due to which companies like Apple, Google, Intel, and AMD have suffered severely in the past couple of quarters.

On top of all this, Qualcomm’s management is very optimistic about the upcoming quarter too. Since it expects a considerable increase in business due to the very high demand for hardware chips in the smartphone category.
